Location of the Stadium

The Kaftanzoglio Stadium is located on the borders of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, between the borders of the areas of Saranta Ekklisies and the Municipality of Triandria. It is a complete Athletic Complex of multiple activities that has been operating since 1960 and occupies an area of 106,534 square metres.

It is located at a particularly convenient place, since although it is situated on the outskirts of the city of Thessaloniki, it is only 2.5 km from its centre. Moreover, it lies next to the most important connection of the ring road with the city’s centre, making the access to the Stadium particularly easy by all transport means.

It has a very important location in the urban design of the city and is part of a larger sport and cultural centre of international significance, which includes the other sporting facilities of Iraklis FC, indoor basketball and volleyball courts (Ivanofio and Katsanio), the national swimming pool, the Sport Museum, the Telloglio Foundation, the university town of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Macedonia.

The area occupied by the facilities of the Stadium is defined from the south-western side by the Agiou Dimitriou Street and from the south-eastern side by the extension of Katsimidou Street, which is also the most important entrance to the city’s centre for those driving in the ring road. From the North it borders to the indoor gym “IVANOFIO” and the auxiliary training football field of IRAKLIS FC via the 3rd September Avenue, while from the north-eastern side it borders to a the high voltage substation of the Greek electricity provider DEI, via the Stilponos Kyriakidi Street.
